Finally, we’re seeing some movement towards home quarantine for both Australians returning back from overseas, as well as interstate travel with QLD and SA today announcing their plans for a home quarantine-based system for travellers.
In Queensland
From Friday July 30, Queenslanders and those permitted to travel into Queensland under an exemption from designated hot spot areas, will be allowed to quarantine at home instead of having to foot the bill for hotel quarantine. Although a suitable home or residence is required as well as private transportation.

In South Australia
The South Australian’ Government is set to be the first jurisdiction to roll out a trial of home-based quarantine for fully vaccinated Australians returning from low-risk overseas destinations into the state.
The trial will initially be for SA Residents only, however Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the “SA Pilot will be a transparent project with all the other states and territories” to prepare them to adopt the new system upon successfully completing the trial.
According to Executive Traveller, the PM also clarified that “home quarantine could be a measure by which fully-vaccinated Australians can leave the country and come back.” Which is promising news for the travel sector.
