Your favourite destinations open for travel in April

So much welcome news for travellers this month, with an influx of countries re-opening their borders to international travel and easing COVID-19 travel restrictions and testing requirements.

We know you will be thrilled to find your favourite destinations on the list below:

1.      Sweden

Sweden will become the latest country to drop all COVID-19-related travel restrictions. Commencing on April 1, Sweden will welcome back all international travellers who will no longer need to show proof of vaccination or get tested before arrival.

2.     Singapore

Singapore will reopen its borders to all fully vaccinated travellers from 1 April removing all existing vaccinated travel lanes (VTL). Travellers to Singapore will no longer need to:
- Apply for entry approvals
- Take designated VTL transport to enter quarantine free
- Serve a stay-home notice, or
- Undergo antigen rapid test (ART) after arriving in Singapore

Travellers will however need to do a pre-departure COVID-19 test within two days before departure for Singapore.

3.     Hong Kong

From 1 April the vibrant city of Hong Kong will finally lifts it’s travel ban allowing travellers back from Australia, Canada, France, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Britain and the United States.

All travellers must be fully vaccinated and produce a negative test result taken within 48 hours of boarding their flights and hold a booking at a quarantine hotel.

In positive news, the hotel quarantine duration in Hong Kong has been reduced from 14 days to 7 days, assuming a negative rapid test result on day six and seven of quarantine.

4.    Malaysia

For the first time in over two years travellers will be welcomed back into Malaysia starting April 1.

Fully vaccinated travellers from anywhere in the world will be allowed to visit for work or pleasure. They will need to produce a negative PCR test two days before arrival and take a rapid antigen test in the 24 hours after entry.

5.     Thailand

In line with many of its Asian neighbours Thailand is racing ahead with plans to accelerate the return travel and tourism.

From April 1, international travellers entering Thailand do not need to a negative PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours of departure of their flight. This applies to any arrivals under Thailand’s TEST & GO, Sandbox, and Alternative Quarantine schemes.

If you are travelling to Thailand you will still need to take a RT-PCR test on arrival and wait at an approved Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel until you receive a negative test result.  

Quarantine for unvaccinated travellers visiting Thailand has also been reduced from 10 days to 5 days, with an RT-PCR test on day four/five.

6.    South Korea

South Korea’s quarantine rules will be eliminated for vaccinated travellers from April, 1, however booster shots will be required for anyone who received their second vaccine more than 180 days ago.

Visitors will need to fill out a Q-CODE form with their passport details, vaccine record and travel information before arriving in South Korea.

7.    Fiji

While already open for travel, the latest exciting news for travellers bound for Fiji is that from April 7, all isolation requirements for international travellers will be dropped regardless of your country of origin.

International travellers to Fiji will still need to meet certain travel requirements including showing proof of vaccination, a negative pre-departure rapid test from their country of origin, up-to-date travel insurance and a negative rapid test within 24 hours of arrival.
